Kick-off

Last night we had an amazing crowd come out and support us at the Woodburn Brewery for our official campaign kick-off.  It was an evening of fantastic beer, great food courtesy of the Lagasea Cafe food truck, and exceptional conversation with members of the community.

It was helpful to have the opportunity to speak with more members of the community about what they think is great about our school system and the problems that need to be addressed.  It is clear that our community values CPS, I know we do.

The more I talk with parents, teachers, and community members the more I see that we can do amazing things if we work together to find solutions.  I can't wait to continue to engage with the people of our district to come up with new ideas as a group.  That is how we succeed, all working together for a common goal with everyone represented.

Thanks to all that made last night a great start to the next phase of the campaign.

News from the Board of Elections

On May 11, 2017, I delivered my completed petition to the Hamilton County Board of Elections. I was told that I was the first candidate to submit a completed petition.

I received a call from them on May 12. I was informed that there were “more than enough” signatures for my petition to be declared valid. David Brenner will be on the ballot in November! This is the first major milestone of my campaign.

I’d like to thank all of my friends & family that helped collect signatures. I would also like to thank the staff at the Board of Elections; they were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Most of all, I would also like to thank the citizens of the city of Cincinnati for their trust when they signed the petition to put me on the ballot in November.

With this out of the way we will increase our focus on meeting with the members of the Cincinnati community. Look for me at your community council meetings, festivals, etc. I’d love to talk to you about your concerns and let me know what is important to you; remember, I will be your representative.

We will work to keep the website and Facebook up to date with events. If you would like to host a forum, please let me know. We would love to put you on our calendar to hear from your group.

How I'm funding my campaign

We all know that money is a force in politics. Unfortunately, it costs a fair bit of money to get out your message.  When I started researching what candidates in prior elections spent, the amount of money spent on a School Board election is surprising, especially since it is effectively an unpaid position.  Elections being money driven should not be the case and especially with something as important as our children's future.

I am not running as a member of a political party. I am not backed by PAC money. My goal from the outset has to fund personally and through the donations of friends, family and community members; I will be upfront with the voters about where my contributions come from.  Campaign contributions are a matter of public record. I encourage every voter to understand where money comes from in this and prior elections. This helps you understand everyone's biases and who they will help.

My reason for running is the future of my 4 children attending Cincinnati Public Schools and all of the other current & future students. I believe in public schools and CPS. Together we can make sure that our schools are the best they can be for all children in all of our schools.

Remembering why I am running

Eliminate the Department of Education?

The House of Representatives have submitted more than one bill to eliminate the Department of Education.  It should be no surprise that the current administration is against support of public schools.

We need to ensure that we have strong public schools moving forward and must accept that there will be increasing challenges to making this a reality.  We are a great nation with a strong economy because we have an outstanding public education system.

David will work to ensure that we make the most of the shrinking resources the district is going to have.
